Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of CareerCompanion, including our website, mobile applications, and AI-powered tools. By creating an account or using any part of the service, you confirm that you are at least 16 years old, have read and understood these Terms, and agree to be bound by them.
If you use CareerCompanion on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
The Service
CareerCompanion provides tools to help users discover job opportunities, generate personalised application materials, track applications, and receive career guidance. The service includes AI-generated content such as cover letter drafts and job-match suggestions.
AI-generated content is provided as a starting point. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying all materials before submitting them to employers. CareerCompanion makes no guarantee of employment outcomes.
Your Account
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account
- One person may maintain one free account; multiple accounts per person are prohibited
- You must provide accurate and current information when registering
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, or fabricated information in your profile or applications
- Use the service to impersonate another person or entity
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the platform
- Use automated bots or scripts to access the service without our written consent
- Upload content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or infringes third-party rights
- Circumvent security, authentication, or access controls
Intellectual Property
CareerCompanion and its licensors own all rights to the platform, software, design, and brand. You retain ownership of the original content you upload (your resume, documents, etc.).
By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process and display that content solely to provide the service to you. We do not claim ownership of your personal materials.
Subscriptions & Billing
- Some features are available under a paid subscription, billed monthly or annually
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date
- Refunds are provided at our discretion; contact billing@careercompanion.app within 14 days of a charge
- Prices may change with 30 days’ advance notice via email or in-app notification
Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate or suitable for any particular employer.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CareerCompanion’s total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100 USD, whichever is greater.
Termination
You may close your account at any time from account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or other reasons at our discretion, with notice where reasonably practicable. Upon termination, your licence to use the service ends; provisions that by nature should survive will do so.
Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by JAMS in San Francisco, CA, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property or data protection matters.
